Ñānaramsi Sayādaw

ထေရုပ္ပတ္တိ အကျဉ်း (brief introduction):

Venerable Nyanaramsi was born in Kedah, Malaysia, in 1960. He pursued his tertiary education at the National University of Malaysia and graduated with Bachelor of Accounting in 1985. He began learning about Buddhism and the practice of Vipassanā meditation after graduation and developed a keen interest to enhance his practice and understanding which led him Myanmar. At that time he decided to renounce the worldly life and join the Order of Buddhist monks in July 1995. He ordained at Chanmyay Yeiktha Meditation Center, in Yangon by the abbot, Chanmyay Sayādaw and was given a monk’s name — Ñānaramsi.

Subsequently, he was invited to teach meditation and share his knowledge of Vipassanā practice with meditators from many countries. Venerable Nyanaramsi spent a total of 9 rain-retreats at the meditation center in Yangon and Hmawbi.

In November 2003, he accepted an invitation from Subang Jaya Buddhist Association (SJBA) to return to Malaysia to teach meditation and share his knowledge of Vipassanā practice to Malaysian Buddhists. He has since established a permanent base in Malaysia and was appointed abbot of the Buddhist Association. Besides residing at SJBA, he has been invited to teach in countries such as Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Taiwan, China and Myanmar.
